Some might find that growing up in a small town of only 250 people to be a disadvantage. For me, it was great. Sure my family and I had some difficult times opportunity wise, but we had it work. I was given every chance that my family could afford.

When Chartwells food services received negative reviews about the cafeteria offerings at Mars Hill College last fall, the company sent Bill LaFrankie, who as MHC’s new director of food services, is striving for change. LaFrankie has already implemented many changes this semester, and he hopes to accomplish much more.
Do you text? How about your roommate? How about the person sitting next to you in class? The Hilltop took up the subject this semester in interviews with students on campus to assess their habits and opinions on the now common form of instant communication. Last fall’s Homecoming dance raised concern about awareness of campus policies regarding dances on campus after the event in October ended in a fight.
Often times, students walk around campus complaining about some aspect of our college. Whether it’s the food, the people or lack of variety, many students feel parts of our college life need to be revamped. However, what many forget is that they choose to come here.
